Challenge

A supplier of various smooth tube heat exchangers and dehumidifiers in finned tube design was looking for a supplier of stainless-steel ball valves, which are low-maintenance and can be used for very high temperatures. Equally important were simple procurement, smooth processing and cooperation in a spirit of partnership.

Application

TRI-MATIC engineering was able to develop a customised pneumatic assembly for a steam air heater. The assembly is used to drain the cooled condensate in the collection pipe. Under no circumstances may the cooled condensate come into contact with the fresh steam. This would lead to a steam hammer and thus to major damage. The reliable feedback of the switching position via the control ensures that the process runs safely and properly.

Solution

Hand in hand with the customer, a low-maintenance pneumatic assembly was visualised using a 3D model and a customer-specific data sheet. After acceptance of the documentation by the customer, the customised assembly could be produced. It consists of a 2/2-way flanged ball valve made of stainless steel with PTFE carbon graphite seal, a remote pneumatic actuator for temperature bridging, a Namur valve for simple control and a Wave limit switch box for end position testing. The components used reliably report the switching position and meet the temperature requirements. Optionally, TRI-MATIC can change the sealing material to withstand even higher temperatures and meet the highest hygienic requirements.
