Robust safety valves as overpressure protection for man and machine
There are various reasons why pressure in systems, vessels or pipelines may exceed the specified upper limit: For example, a blocked discharge, a chemical reaction, a fault in the system or thermal expansion. Each case of overpressure causes different mass or volume flows to be discharged. Plant operators determine the appropriate pressure relief device. TRI-MATIC's engineering department will be happy to assist you in the selection process. Because safety valves protect people, machines and the environment as overpressure protection.
Safety valves or pressure relief valves open when the medium pressure exceeds the maximum permissible pressure in systems, containers or pipelines. If the defined opening pressure is exceeded, the medium must be relieved in a controlled manner and overpressure in the system prevented. As soon as normal operating conditions are restored, the safety valve closes again.
In a spring-loaded safety valve, the spiral spring applies the spring or closing force. An adjustment screw compresses the spiral spring. The brass TRI-SAFETY VALVE spring-loaded safety valve provides the highest quality overpressure protection for use with compressed air and other neutral, non-flammable, non-toxic vapors and gases. It has a robust design and is ideal for many process applications.
TRI-MATIC has two versions of the TRI-SAFETY VALVE spring-loaded relief valve in its range. With the adjustable pressure relief and safety valve, the opening pressure is set manually and secured with a lock nut. The sealed variant is different. Here, the opening pressure specified by the customer is set at the factory and secured with a black plastic cap. For example, the 3 bar safety valve must not exceed the opening pressure of 3 bar, and the 6 bar pressure relief valve must not exceed the opening pressure of 6 bar. The TRI-MATIC safety valves are equipped with a lifting ring, which is required for lifting during commissioning and for regular functional testing.
FAQs
Safety valves protect people, machinery and the environment. Pressure relief and safety valves are designed to open and release excess pressure from systems, vessels or pipelines and then close again.
The operation of safety valves differs depending on the main type and load type. Spring-loaded safety valves are one of the main types of safety valves. In a spring-loaded safety valve, the spiral-shaped spring applies the spring or closing force. An adjusting screw compresses the spiral spring.
Pressure relief valves are set manually or at the factory to a specific opening pressure. As soon as the defined opening pressure is exceeded, the medium is released in a controlled manner and overpressure in the system is prevented. For example, the safety valve 3 bar must not exceed the opening pressure of 3 bar, or the pressure relief valve 6 bar must not exceed the opening pressure of 6 bar.
