Butterfly valves: flap open and closed, even with large flow rates

In the butterfly valve, a disc or disk rotates open and closed with a 90° rotary movement. Depending on the design of the flap, operating pressures up to 25 bar and temperatures up to 180°C can be shut off. A great advantage of butterfly valves is their compact design and low weight, even with large nominal diameters up to DN400. This is particularly decisive in pipeline construction.

Butterfly valves are also used in water extraction, water distribution and wastewater applications. Butterfly valves are particularly suitable for clean to slightly contaminated, neutral liquids. Applications in this area rely on the TRI-DISC COMPACT or TRI-DISC COMPACT LUG shut-off valves with various sealing materials such as EPDM, EPDM with DVGW approval, Viton and NBR.

For aggressive or demanding media in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries, butterfly valves with PFA-coated discs or discs made of polished stainless steel are used. TRI-DISC COMPACT PTFE butterfly valves are ideal for these applications. The wetted sealing materials have FDA approval.

Wherever entire processes or parts thereof are automated, we can mount pneumatic or electric rotary actuators on the butterfly valves. We are also happy to do this for applications in hazardous areas. Benefit from TRI-MATIC's wide range of resistant butterfly valves.
