Challenge

The milling machine produces parts with the highest precision in precision mechanics. Six different, purely pneumatic controls were needed for the clamping device as well as a main switch to protect the milling machine from unintentional actuation. There were two challenges: One was the limited space in the milling machine. The other was the customer's demand for a purely pneumatic solution.

Application

The milling machine is equipped with a vertical clamping device. The control panel controls the cylinders for the eight clamping devices of the milling machine. As soon as the main switch in the form of a safety valve on the control panel is actuated, the various combinations of the clamping device are controlled and activated. Depending on the requirement, the corresponding switch can be operated to clamp or release the clamping device.

Solution

For space reasons, TRI-MATIC Engineering has developed and manufactured a control cabinet and a separate operating panel. The control cabinet is mounted in the milling machine and the control panel is attached to the machine's control panel.
