Flow control valves for bidirectional throttling of media

You regulate the flow of compressed air in your pneumatic system with flow control valves. The flow of pneumatic consumers is influenced by the adjusting screw. Flow control valves are used wherever the flow rate of gases or liquids needs to be reduced or regulated.

Adjustable, bidirectional flow control valves regulate the flow rate of the medium identically both ways. The compressed air can flow in both directions. The throttle cross-section is reduced or increased with an adjusting screw depending on the requirements. The flow thus decreases or increases.

A typical application is the adjustment of the movement speed of the piston in a pneumatic cylinder. Bidirectional flow control valves can be used to regulate the volume flow and thus also adjust the speed of pneumatic cylinders. As the throttle function is bidirectional, the air flowing back is also throttled. Non-adjustable throttles are also known as orifices, although these are rarely used in pneumatics.

All different variants of bidirectional throttle valves or unidirectional throttle check valves are assembled by TRI-MATIC at our site in Hünenberg/ZG.

Whether for the "V" version for use with the valves or for the "Z" versions for attachment to the pneumatic cylinders, we can offer pressure connections from M5 to G1/4". Various connection types such as hose connection, quick connector or internal thread are available. Various spindle types for confirming the throttles round off the diverse programme.

FAQs

How does a flow control valve work?

A flow control valve can be used to regulate the flow rate of gases or liquids. A typical application is the adjustment of the movement speed of the piston in a pneumatic cylinder. Bidirectional throttle valves are used to regulate the flow rate and thus also adjust the speed of pneumatic cylinders.

What is the difference between a flow control valve and a one-way flow control valve?

Adjustable, bidirectional throttle valves are bi-directional. The throttle function is bidirectional. With a unidirectional throttle check valve, on the other hand, one flow direction is throttled and the other flow direction has full passage.
