Fast interlocking in waste incineration plant with peumatic gate valve

Enevi - the operator of inter-municipal waste collection points in central Valais - needed a replacement for a knife gate valve for a silo for ash from the incineration of household waste. The challenge in replacing the ten-year-old knife gate valve was to procure a replacement with the dimensions of the old valve according to a 2D drawing. Frederic Jungsten from Enevi was looking for a competent supplier who could provide him with the customised knife gate valve according to the defined specifications for his plant.

When replacing the customised knife gate valve, it was important for Mr. Jungsten not to make any changes to the existing silo. The gate valve is used in a silo for ash from the incineration of household waste at an operating temperature between 10 and 30°C. The operating pressure in the system is max. 1bar and the control pressure for operating the front gate valve is max. 1bar. The operating pressure in the system is max. 1bar and the control pressure for the operation of the sash with the nominal width of 400mm x 400mm is 6bar.

Thanks to the large supplier network, TRI-MATIC was able to procure a double-acting peumatic gate valve with a square passage of 400 x 400mm, which met the customer's requirements.

The new peumatic knife gate valve could be installed easily and quickly during a shutdown. Within a short time, the dismantling of the old knife gate valve and installation of the new gate valve was completed. The silo for ash from the incineration of household waste functions again as before. Locking is now even faster and easier than with the old knife gate valve.
