NIST and DISS standard-compliant and reliable pressure regulators for medical use
As part of the commitment to continuous product improvement, Intersurgical wants to use a 2-bar pre-regulator for pressure control in the respiratory gas blenders. Thanks to years of experience with pressure reducing valves and the associated standards, TRI-MATIC can guarantee NIST and DISS standard-compliant, reliable and tight connections for medical use.
Intersurgical Ltd. is a global manufacturer of high quality medical devices. The company provides flexible solutions for patients in the fields of airway management, anaesthesia, critical care, oxygen and aerosol therapy. Today, Intersurgical has six international production sites in Lithuania, China, Italy, the USA and Malaysia.
Initial situation/Challenges for the customer
As part of our commitment to continuous product improvement, Intersurgical sought to integrate 2-bar pre-regulators into our respiratory gas blender to enhance performance and clinical responsiveness.
We value the quality and reliability of the NIST and DISS standard-compliant 2-bar pre-regulators.
Solution
From the very first contact, it was clear that Intersurgical Ltd. had found a professional, knowledgeable and cooperative partner for preset pressure reducing valves in TRI-MATIC.
TRI-MATIC discussed the specifications with the engineers and immediately provided working samples that fully met the specifications. The TRI-MATIC-Engineering developed a modified, preset pressure reducing valve TRI-IN-LINE OXYREG created out of stainless steel with a male ¼" BSPP outlet thread and incorporated either an inlet connection based on the NIST standard for O₂ or breathing air or an inlet connection based on the DISS norm for O₂ or breathing air.
The NIST standard (Non Interchangeable Screw Thread) and DISS standard (Diameter Index Safety System) are international standards for connections in medical gas supply for gases such as oxygen (O₂) or medical compressed air. Thanks to years of experience with pressure reducing valves and the associated standards, TRI-MATIC can guarantee standard-compliant, reliable and tight connections for medical use.
Results
The stable, regulated gas inputs with 2-bar pre-regulator in respiratory gas blender has clear benefits:
- Faster FiO₂ (Fraction of Inspired Oxygen) response times. FiO₂ is the percentage of oxygen in the air mixture that a patient breathes in.
- Improved blending accuracy
- Simplified control
- Greater protection against wall supplied pressure fluctuations
These enhancements translate to a more predictable and responsive device in clinical settings, supporting better patient care and greater user confidence.
For Gemma Hall, Head of Project Management at Intersurgical, one thing is certain: «We have chosen TRI-MATIC as our supplier of pre-regulators. We appreciate the quality and reliability of the 2-bar pre-regulators and look forward to working with TRI-MATIC.»
